Description
My wife and I were staying in Sedona in mid-April and got a great surprise with a dusting of snow on the ground behind out hotel room. The surprise was that Sedona does not have much snow at an elevation 4,423’ and rarely would one see any snow as late in the season as this.
This location, right on the banks of Oak Creek as it runs through Sedona is one of our favorites for a peaceful, serene setting on a green summer day. Of course, not a blade of green grass can be seen in this image. The twisted oaks on the river bank provide a natural framing for the striking red rock outcropping in the background. During the summer you can see families having a picnic on the banks of the river while watching the ducks floating down the stream. This location is directly behind the Los Abrigados Resort and adjacent to the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village near the “Y” in the center of Sedona.
Too often we fail to recognize the beauty of our close surroundings. I have visited that location literally hundreds of times and I always remember it for the red rocks rising above the snow dusted trees and river bank.
