Description
On the day before Thanksgiving Day 2004 Valerie and I had gone to Sedona for our traditional stay (we got engaged in Sedona in 1998). We had gone, for the first time to an area called Red Rock Crossing. This location was on the South side of Red Rock Crossing, the opposite side from the traditional shots of the area that includes Cathedral Rock. It was a beautiful fall day with temperatures in the 60’s and great blue skies with billowy clouds on the horizon.
About fifty yards from the parking area I looked up and saw this image before me. It had rained the day before making for the puddles of water in foreground. If you look close you will see some wooden steps with no trespassing signs that lead up to a home off frame to the right.
The great beauty of this landscape was enhanced by the sun lighting up Cathedral Rock and the trees in the background. Note the glistening of the wetness on the rocks in the foreground. Too often we fail to recognize the beauty of our close surroundings. I have passed that location literally hundreds of times over the years, but on this day the sheer beauty of the overall scene grabbed my heart before I pulled the camera up to my eye.
